Wanda Brown stands firm for the values that make Missouri great: faith in God, love of family and the defense of freedom. Her strong voice for integrity and conservative common-sense leadership have made her a leader in mid-Missouri politics.
Wanda is a native Missourian and was born in Sedalia and raised in Cole Camp. She attended college at State Fair Community College in Sedalia.
In 1985, Wanda married her husband Bob and they raised their daughter in Benton County as well. Bob has worked in construction for more than 25 years and owns a small construction company.
Wanda and her family first became involved in politics in 1998, when they learned Right to Carry would be on the ballot in Missouri. They worked closely with a coalition of pro-gun groups across the state and the National Rifle Association. She is a Life Member of the NRA, concealed carry permit holder and a certified shooting instructor.
Also in 1999, the Brown family worked with a coalition of volunteers to found the State Fair Friends of NRA Committee. The Friends of NRA program raises money for firearms education and shooting sports for young people. To date, the State Fair committee has raised over $500,000 for shooting sports in Missouri and is the largest event in the state!
Her involvement in campaigns did not stop after RTC in 1999. Wanda and her husband became county volunteers for a number of conservative candidates in the past decade: President George W. Bush, Governor Matt Blunt, Governor Mitt Romney, Governor Sarah Palin, Congressman Kenny Hulshof, Senator Jim Talent, Senator Delbert Scott and Congressman Roy Blunt. Wanda and her husband have traveled the state to help conservative candidates in State House seats, including the late former Representative Ed Robb, Senator Luann Ridgeway and former Representative Bob Onder.
Wanda owned and operated the Benton County License Bureau from 2005 until her election to the Missouri House in 2010. She employed 4 local residents and is a member of the Lincoln, Clinton, Windsor, and Cole Camp Chambers of Commerce. Wanda's experience as a small business owner helped to prepare her for service to the community as an elected leader.
In 2010, Wanda was elected to represent the 116th district in the Missouri House. This district included all of Benton County and parts of Pettis and Morgan counties. With the 2012 redistricting, Wanda is now in the 57th district which includes the northern half of Benton County, all of Henry County and part of Cass and Bates Counties.
Bob and Wanda live in Cole Camp, Missouri.
